While it's not a shocker, given this country's efforts to ban DJI drones, the new draft of FAA Part 108 may deny BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Site) operation to a significant portion of the DJI fleet, as well as other drones not made in America.

Unfortunately, many American pilots use DJI drones—and other non-USA-made—drones every day. Including many first responders that use drones to keep the public safe.

As DroneDJ recently reported: "The draft rules as they stand don’t line up with the way most people actually fly drones in America today."

You're a DJI Pilot Looking Forward to BVLOS—What Can You Do?

You need to get busy! Part 108 is a draft, so you can SPEAK UP.

The  FAA is taking public comments until October 6, 2025.

The FAA does want to hear how Part 108 would affect your own work, so dig deep and write a personal, first-hand account sharing the how's and why's.

Because, to quote the DroneDJ report again: "Make no mistake. If the draft goes through as written, the future of BVLOS in America may not include the DJI drones you already own. Part 108 is supposed to be the long-awaited unlock for routine BVLOS flights, giving drone pilots a way to expand their work without wading through endless waivers. But unless it’s amended, it could end up locking out the very aircraft that built America’s drone economy in the first place."
