If the United States ends up banning DJI drones when the National Defense Authorization Act takes effect at the end of 2025, the company appears to be ensuring its drone tech will live on with American "smart home" consumers.
DJI recently announced a line of ROMO robot vacuums that use the "omnidirectional obstacle sensing" system found in it drones. The crash avoidance tech in the aerial drones is certainly up to the task of negotiated crowded earthbound living spaces without smacking into furniture. Although ROMO will be released in China first, other countries should be able to purchase models by the end of the year.
Apparently, ROMO tech isn't yet under suspicion of spying on the furniture and interior design of American homes.
