Colorado-based P3 Tech Consulting LLC has again partnered with the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) to bring its world-class Law-Tech Connect Workshop (LTC) to this year’s XPONENTIAL.

This co-located, one-day educational event provides one-of-a-kind legal, regulatory, and policy knowledge relating to uncrewed systems, autonomy, and advanced air mobility. It will take place the day prior to the opening of the XPO Hall floor, on Monday, April 22 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.

P3 Tech, a veteran and woman owned business led by Dawn Zoldi (Colonel, USAF Retired), a licensed drone pilot, attorney, and globally renowned industry expert organizes the event. Her experience includes 28 years of service to the U.S. Air Force as a Judge Advocate (military lawyer), Associate General Counsel, and U.S. Air Force Academy leader. She regularly contributes valuable industry content in the form of articles for major publications and as the host of several highly-successful podcasts, including the Dawn of Autonomy podcast, which airs weekly on AUVSI channels.

Dawn Zoldi

Zoldi first launched LTC, an immersive workshop on autonomy topics, at AUVSI’s Orlando XPONENTIAL event in 2022. Her inspiration for the event has roots in her military experience.

“Having been involved in drone policy-making since 2015 in the Department of Defense (DoD), I know how important it is to have all the right people at the table to hash out the key issues before finalizing guidance,” Zoldi explained. “I created the DoD’s Pentagon-based Domestic Imagery Working Group, composed of operators, lawyers and policy-makers for that very reason. Regulations often drive the trajectory of tech. I created my company to continue the necessary and important conversations around tech law and policy, both on the military and commercial side. Law-Tech Connect is my way of doing that.”

LTC 2023

Last year’s LTC in Denver witnessed a standing-room only crowd. P3 Tech has since released videos of the 2023 LTC Panels in a monthly “LTC Online” series, accessible on the company’s website at https://www.p3techconsulting.com/law-tech-connect.

For attorneys, the workshop will qualify as an accredited Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program (anticipated 8 California CLE credits, self-certifiable and transferable to other jurisdictions). But make no mistake, this workshop is not just for attorneys. Zoldi gears these events towards a broad audience of uncrewed ecosystem industry leaders, operators, program managers, attorneys, academia, students, government agencies and nonprofits.

This year’s LTC agenda covers a broad range of emerging tech policy topics ranging from global and State-level drone rules, air taxi standards, space and spectrum, ground and maritime autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and airspace awareness.

To speak to these topics, Zoldi curates the best-of-the-best as LTC faculty. The event’s unparalleled speaker line up includes experts from across commercial industry, government and academia, including Maj Gen (USAF Ret.) James Poss (CEO ISR Ideas), Lori DeMatteis (CRO of MatrixSpace), Jerry Hancock (Director of Aviation Safety Solutions and Cybersecurity at Viasat) and Erin Roessler (Director of Operations for the Northern Plains UAS Test Site), discussing the industry’s hottest issues, side-by-side with the top legal minds. On deck: Jennifer Richter (Akin Gump), Lisa Ellman (Hogan & Lovells), Josh Turner (Wiley Rein) and Tracy L. Reynolds (CDR, USN,  U.S. Navy Judge Advocate), to name just a few.

The event is sponsored by Premium Partners Akin (Gold) and Viasat (Silver) and multiple Friends of Law-Tech Connect. Carahsoft, MatrixSpace, the NPUASTS and PromoDrone are each individually sponsoring unique Scholars Programs to support participation from across a diverse group of academic faculty, students and industry leaders. Scholarship applications are available through the P3 Tech website, Law-Tech Connect page.

The low-price registration fee covers the program, a 3-day XPO Hall pass (alone $100+ value) and a pre-event no-host networking social event on Sunday April 21st. Attorneys will also receive proof of CLE attendance. Early bird rates are available ($249) through March 8th. Add-ons include the VIP Influencer reception. Registrants also have the ability to purchase Zoldi’s drone law text book from the USI at cost, using a special promotional code.
