The U.S.-Bengaluru corporation GenX AI has partnered with the Rajasthan (India) Agriculture Department to test drones seeding clouds with rain-making chemicals.
Usually, manned aircraft have done the job of assisting moisture-rich clouds to release rain by infusing them with silver idodide particles and/or salt. However, it is hoped drones will offer speedier depolyment, better targeting of the right clouds to seed, and enhanced precision control overall.
More successful efforts by drones could mean better drought response, as well as aiding farmers in arid locales such as Rajasthan.
