Teledyne FLIR Expands Next-Generation Hadron 640 Series

<p>EOC is introducing the series of EFD cameras as part of its <span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong><a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.flir.com/oem/thermal-by-flir/https://www.flir.com/oem/thermal-by-flir/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thermal by FLIR</a></strong></span>&nbsp;collaboration.</p>
<p>The HI1612-OH and HI1612-MW series cameras offer multiple resolution options for continuous monitoring of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and other critical infrastructure, security, and facility applications. With non-contact temperature measuring, the FLIR Lepton can identify elevated heat before ignition, which then triggers an alarm system. EOC&rsquo;s ONVIF-compliant EFD cameras help improve safety while enabling fire personnel to attack a potential fire more quickly than when relying on traditional smoke alarms.</p>

<h5><strong><span style="color: #ba372a;">Thermal Performance and SWaP Enhancements&nbsp;</span></strong></h5>
<p>The USA-manufactured Boson+ not only provides four times the thermal resolution at 640 x 512 pixels versus the predecessor thermal camera on the Skydio X2, but it also doubles the thermal sensitivity of competitive payloads at 30 millikelvin (mK) or better.&nbsp; It is the most sensitive commercially available uncooled longwave infrared (LWIR) camera module for drones. The increased sensitivity and resolution provide sharper scene detail, improving detection, specifically in outdoor, low-contrast scenes&mdash;a critical need for thermal inspectors and first responders, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, and search and rescue personnel.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Teledyne FLIR team also worked closely with Skydio to develop custom optics to reduce the weight of a standard Boson+ camera optics by 48%. The weight reduction helps maximize flight time while also decreasing the volume of the thermal camera module by 43% for an improved payload form factor.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Skydio X10 boasts customized thermal image signal processing that leverages Teledyne FLIR&rsquo;s<a href="https://www.flir.com/products/prism-isp/">&nbsp;</a><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong><a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://www.flir.com/products/prism-isp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Prism ISP</a></strong></span>, further improving imaging quality. The resulting thermal imagery is available as radiometric JPEGs (R-JPEG), meaning that each image captured includes temperature data of every pixel in the scene for granular, quantitative insights needed for solar panel, machinery, and utility inspection.&nbsp;</p>
<p>That R-JPEG data captured from the X10 can then be combined with the R-JPEG data captured from handheld Teledyne FLIR thermal imaging cameras to create comprehensive inspection reports from the air to the ground. Kelly provided a rundown of the key thermal camera systems on offer for unmanned systems along with its <a href="http://www.teledyneflir.com/siras" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong>SIRAS</strong></span></a> drone platform created primarily for public safety and industrial inspection applications.</p>
<h5><span style="color: #ba372a;"><strong>FLIR Boson+ with Factory-Integrated Continuous Zoom</strong></span></h5>

<p>Chief among the thermal camera modules Teledyne FLIR offers is the FLIR Boson+. <p>Performance is engrained as the Boson+ offers up to 640x512 resolution, which allows for detailed imaging from a great distance in part thanks to the proprietary FLIR image processing capabilities that provide enhanced image quality and detail in comparison to other thermal cameras with similar resolution. This is achieved thanks to its 12-micron pixel pitch detector with an industry-leading noise equivalent differential temperature (NEDT) or "thermal sensitivity&rdquo; of 20 millikelvin or less. The super-thermal sensitivity of the Boson+ camera significantly enhances detection, recognition, and identification (DRI) performance. It also features improved video latency that boosts tracking, seeker performance, and decision support.</p>
<p>Announced at Xponential, the Boson+ can also be purchased with a factory-integrated 5x continuous-zoom lens, providing optimal performance and a single-system warranty only achievable from a single source. The system also lowers development and manufacturing risk and improves time-to-market for customers embedding the <span style="color: #ba372a;"><a style="color: #ba372a;" href="https://youtu.be/N_vHxg8pc14" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Boson+</strong> <strong>CZ 14-75</strong></a><strong> </strong></span>into a wide variety of systems.</p>
<p>By completing the factory alignment at Teledyne FLIR, integrators receive a thermal zoom solution calibrated for maximum performance that eliminates boresight wander and other image artifacts while zooming. Critical to dynamic missions, Teledyne FLIR&rsquo;s advanced lens control electronics provide thermal gradient compensation to maintain focus across the full operational temperature range while object range compensation maintains focus through zoom, even for near targets. Built-in tests (BIT) run at startup, continuously, or are commanded to provide real-time notification of issues and maximize operational reliability.</p>

<p>Also at Xponential, Teledyne FLIR displayed its SIRAS sUAS platform that sells for $9,695&mdash;a powerful tool that has proven useful in both public safety and industrial inspection settings. The SIRAS is built with cybersecurity at the forefront&mdash;it does not require an online profile or log-in to fly, as it is not connected to any cloud platforms or the internet. Nor is the SIRAS built with any electronic components from countries of concern, providing peace of mind that the data captured and the drone itself are secure. The platform is not subject to geofencing. Instead, the FLIR SIRAS places full control in the hands of the pilot, where it belongs. Yet, SIRAS maintains compliance with all US rules and regulations, including Remote ID. &nbsp;</p>
