Not that Oasis needs any fancy promo for their very-much-anticipated reunion, but drones were deployed to form the band's logo over the Principality Stadium in Cardiff—the first gig of the 41-show tour.
The one-night drone display appeared on July 2, ahead of the reunion's debut dates of July 4 and 5 at the venue.
Oasis hasn't performed live for nearly 16 years, ever since a violent dressing-room fracas in 2009 between the famously combative Gallagher brothers (vocalist Liam and guitarist Noel) tanked the group with immediate affect.
The siblings' relationship had deteriorated dramatically during the preceding years, and Noel's refusal to let Liam advertise his new clothing brand (Pretty Green) in the Oasis tour program at no cost was apparently one of the triggers for the band-ending battle. ("I didn’t feel that it was right for him to be flogging his gear to our fans," said Noel in 2011.)
Hopefully, the brothers' tempers have cooled to a frozen-yogurt level since 2009, as legions of Oasis devotees are fanatically awaiting the chance to see the band onstage. (My friend Max Lauer-Bader flew from Los Angeles to England to see the kick-off shows.)
In other Oasis news, Noel Gallagher caused quite a sensation amongst everyday commuters when he arrived in Cardiff by train this week.
